Heart of Missouri Girls on the Run is seeking people who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of girls in grades 3-8 by serving as a mentor and coach during our 10 week season. As a coach beginning Weds, Sept. 6 through Saturday, Nov. 11 you'll have the opportunity to mentor and guide 8-15 girls as they develop self-confidence, courage, connection, competence and caring. Meeting twice a week for 90 minutes, you'll lead lessons on self-awareness and acceptance, building and mainting healthy friendships and teaching girls to set and achieve personal goals. You'll also have the opporutnity to walk or run with your team and support them as they prepare to complete a 5k!
Each Girls on the Run coach receives training and an easy-to-follow curriculum to teach girls valuable life skills during the ten-week season. Men and women may serve as coaches! Check out this video to learn more about how coaching makes a positive impact not only on the girls involved but the coaches as well.

Mission Statement
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Description
Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in the 3rd through 5th grade participate in an after-school program and lessons that encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. Participants explore and discuss their own beliefs around experiences and challenges girls face at this age. They also develop important strategies and skills to help them navigate life experiences.
Physical activity is woven into our program to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health. At the end of each three month session, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5k event. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of the curriculum. Completing the 5k gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. Crossing the finish line is a defining moment when the girls realize that even the seemingly impossible IS possible.
