Community Service Opportunity!

Work the Rodeo for one day and get to watch it for free the other day.

The San Dimas Charity Pro Rodeo is a Not For Profit organization. Each year we put on a rodeo in San Dimas by 100% volunteers and by the generosity of our sponsors. All of the members of the Board of Directors and the Executive Board are also volunteers and work throughout the year toward preparing for the rodeo. The net proceeds from the rodeo go right back into our local community. We make donations to victims of domestic violence (House of Ruth in Pomona), returning veteran programs and further education. By volunteering with us, you are also directly giving back to your community. If you would like to be a part of giving to veterans, victims of domestic violence, and furthering education for youth, or if you have a need to fulfill a community hours requirement, this is a perfect fit for you!

This year the rodeo is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, October 13th and 14th. Here's what we need:
Wednesday, Oct. 10th, we need help hanging sponsor banners inside the rodeo arena from 9am to 6pm.
Thursday, Oct. 11th, we need help finishing up hanging banners from 9am until we finish, most likely around 2pm.
Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday Oct. 14 are Rodeo performance days; check in time is around 10:00am until the rodeo ends, usually around 4:30pm.

Here are some examples of the positions we need to fill: parking, gate security, front gate greeter/ticket taker, VIP tent, grounds upkeep, ticket booth, beer/margarita booth (over 21), merchandise booth, ticket booth. No prior experience needed!

On Saturday and Sunday, we provide you with lunch and a beverage (typically a hot dog or hamburger and a soft drink), and water throughout the day. We also offer you one general admission rodeo ticket for the alternate day that you aren't volunteering. (If you prefer to work both days, you can assign your tickets to family/friends.)

Prior to the rodeo, we will have orientation meetings. It is mandatory for you to attend one meeting. The orientation meeting dates are Wednesday evening, October 3rd at 6:30pm and 7pm, Sunday, October 7th at 10:00am and 10:30am.

Location: San Dimas Community Hospital ~ 1350 W. Covina Blvd., San Dimas, CA 91773 (Meeting room doors are to the right of the hospital entrance)

We will have Volunteer Applications and Waivers there. Minor volunteers may fill out the Application at the meeting and take home the waiver for a parent or guardian to sign. You will need to bring the signed waiver on the day you volunteer.

Volunteers must be 15 years old, enrolled in High School (if under 18) and show a valid photo I.D. when checking in at the Rodeo.

Mission Statement

The San Dimas Charity Pro Rodeo is a non profit organization dedicated to preserving the great sport of rodeo. We pride ourselves on our continuous support and betterment of our local communities through our educational scholarship program.

Description

The San Dimas Charity Pro Rodeo is held on the second week end in October every year. It is 100% volunteer run. The Board of Directors are all volunteers and work all year on planning the rodeo. On Rodeo week end, we rely on our wonderful community volunteers, without them, the rodeo can not take place. The net proceeds from the rodeo go right back into our local communities toward continuing education (scholarships), veteran programs, cancer programs and victims of domestic violence programs. On Sunday of rodeo week end, we also put on a Challenged Buckaroo Rodeo prior to the rodeo. It is a free event for any special needs child between ages of 3 to 12 and up to 80 pounds. The volunteer opportunites vary. We need minimum age of 15 for our youth volunteers and we also need adult volunteers. They check in at 9:30 am and work until 5:00 pm. Any one that needs community service will be provided with proof of service. Every volunteer will be provided with lunch and water throughout the day at no charge to them. They also qualify to recieve one general admission ticket to the rodeo for each performance day they work. If they prefer to work both days of performance, they have the option to give their tickets to someone they know. Volunteers are checked on a regular basis throughout the day and are provided with a contact number for anything they need while they are there. They are required to attend one orientation meeting prior to the rodeo.
