Supervisor: Director of Communications
Responsibilities:
Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East is looking for translators to help us interview homeowner families who are not fluent in English. Sharing stories about homeowners helps us spread the word about the success of Habitat’s programs. This position will allow you to get a behind-the-scenes view of our homeownership program, while interviewing current and future homeowners. Habitat will provide the interview questions and we need the HabiCorps Translator to help facilitate the interview alongside a Habitat staff member or volunteer.
This volunteer position will be working directly with the Communications Department on an on-call basis.
Required:
Fluent in English and at least one of these languages:
- - Cantonese
- Vietnamese - - Burmese
- Excellent communication skills
- Passion for Habitat for Humanity’s mission

Description
Habitat for Humanity Portland Region serves Multnomah County, east Washington County, and northern Clackamas County and has the ability to reach out to families one step away from homelessness. Habitat sells homes to hardworking people in need of decent, affordable housing. We are an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-denominational Christian housing ministry and global home-building movement. We welcome people from all walks of life to partner with our program to serve families in need with generosity, humility, and love.
