ORGANIZATION: The Princess Project Los Angeles Location

Are you mad for fashion? Is there nothing better to you than helping a teen find the right dress or outfit for their prom or special event? Do you have retail dreams of inventory, racks of gorgeous formal dresses, tuxedos, pant suits and searching for that perfect outfit in the right size, color and fit? If so, please read on!

The Princess Project Los Angeles is starting its second year as a Princess Project non-profit location and we are recruiting for our Leadership Board. We are actively seeking a Regional Chair for Antelope Valley to join our Los Angeles leadership board for a minimum 2-year commitment.

The Princess Project Los Angeles mission is to create a safe place for teens and their families to come to and find the formal wear desired in an environment that embraces all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientation, disabilities and body size. We receive our donated clothes and accessories in several different ways, including from our partners and sponsors but also from local formal wear drives and from individuals looking to donate gently used formal wear for us to then provide to the Los Angeles community at large. Due to the size of Los Angeles, we have divided the 4700 square miles into eighteen regions. Our Regional Chairs are boots on the ground contacts for our high schools, community organizations and individual dress donors in their region. You are the face and presence of The Princess Project Los Angeles in your region.

Duties include:

  • Inventory Management - Establish drop-off locations with local vendors, pick-up dresses, tuxedos, new shoes and accessories and coordinate pick-up/receipt of a new bin and transferring full bin to long term storage.
  • Region Management - Identify high schools and organizations serving teens, including public and private. Determine number of juniors and seniors in each school/organization and prom dates. Identify school systems, programs and/or organizations that support McKinney-Ventu and homeless students.
  • Metrics - Create reports on your region from the information you have gathered by October of each year and again in February to ensure the numbers are consistent and accurate.
  • Communication - Communicate introductions with high schools representing TPPLA and using TPPLA provided communications/templates. Send PR information to high schools and organizations supporting teens by February of each year.

The time committment for this role during these formative years varies per month but averages 10-15 hours a month except during prom season (end of February through beginning of May) where additional time may be requsted to support our public giveaway events. Description

The Princess Project is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit that began in San Francisco in 2002 and expanded into the greater Bay Area, San Diego and now is in Los Angeles.

The Princess Project Los Angeles promotes self-confidence and individual beauty by providing formal wear and accessories to high school teens who cannot otherwise afford them. Our effort is made possible through invaluable volunteer, donor, and community support via donations and financial gifts to further our goals here in the greater Los Angeles area.

By creating a positive, safe environment for teens and their families to come to and find the formal wear desired in an environment that embraces and celebrates all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientation, disabilities and bodies of all shapes and sizes, our work goes far beyond formal wear to instill a sense of pride and confidence in the thousands of teens that we reach each prom season and to help support special moments in their lives. Our goal is to reach teens at a pivotal moment in their lives and give them an experience that they will forever cherish, as we celebrate with them their passage into adulthood.
