About Posse: The Posse Foundation, a dynamic youth leadership development, and scholarship program identifies, recruits and selects student leaders from public high schools to form multicultural teams called "Posses." These teams are then prepared through an intensive eight-month Posse Training Program for enrollment at top universities nationwide to pursue higher education and to help promote cross-cultural communication on campus. The Posse Program has demonstrated great success over the past twenty years, placing over 7,728 students at top colleges and universities. Since 1989, Posse Scholars have won over $1 billion in scholarships from Posse partner universities and are persisting and graduating at 90% -- higher than the national averages at top institutions of higher education. In 2017, the Posse Program in Miami received 1,300 nominations, selecting 60 students to receive over six million dollars in scholarships to Syracuse University, Franklin and Marshall College, Mount Holyoke College, Pomona College, Davidson College, and Hamilton College.
Volunteer Description:
Understanding that traditional college recruitment and admissions measures can miss capable students, Posse developed the Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP), an alternative student recruitment and evaluation strategy. Each Posse site works with a network of high schools and community organizations, which nominate high school students for the Posse Program. As we prepare for our 2018 Scholar recruiting season, The Posse Foundation is seeking volunteers to assist with DAP. There are three stages to DAP: a large group interview, an individual interview (for those who advance from the group interview stage), and a small group interview (for finalists). Volunteers are needed for the first phase of DAP, the large group interview. All volunteers have two main responsibilities during this interview:Registration & Logistics and Evaluation of Nominees.
