At Make-A-Wish, we grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Northeastern California and Northern Nevada Chapter is headquartered in Sacramento and covers 37 counties.
We are looking for an office volunteer to support our Scrapbooking Program who can assist in-office 4-6 hours per week, on a regular basis. Volunteers must be available during our office hours, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. M-F. We can mutually decide what shift will work best with your schedule. We also require that the volunteer in this role be willing to agree to a minimum six-month commitment.
Scrapbook Volunteer job duties:
- Assist in the recruitment of scrapbook volunteers (done via phone and email)
- Follow-up with scrapbookers regarding books in progress
- Contact families to confirm their addresses before sending books
- Document steps take in RE Database
The volunteer should be an organized and detail oriented administrative volunteer. The volunteer must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in an office setting. The volunteer must be at least 18 years old. Completion of an application, interview and criminal background check are required for this position.
Ideal candidates are able to effectively:
- Reach out and follow up with wish families and volunteers for various scrapbook needs
- Manage time and prioritize tasks
- Utilize data entry systems and Microsoft programs

Description
Our Make-A-Wish chapter grants one wish every three days in the Central California region. Volunteers throughout our chapter support our mission work in wish granting, special events, community relations, corporate fundraising, community awareness and other critical areas. Volunteers work in local communities by impacting the lives of Central California children. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available. It is important to note that during this time, we have made volunteer orientations and trainings readily available virtually for the health and safety of everyone.
Wish Granter
Wish Granters work in teams of two as a liaison between a wish family and Make-A-Wish. They help determine a child's wish and play an instrumental role in helping to turn the wish into reality. You must be at least 21 years old, complete Wish Granter training, and be able to make two or more visits to the family during the course of the wish process. Wish Visits have recently become available to do virtually as well.
