The JFS office in Bellevue is seeking volunteers to help clients who are developing their English language skills. Many of the clients are refugees or immigrants who are working on their English to aid in their job searches.
There are a variety of opportunities, although the need for volunteers in these areas may vary. Volunteers might:
* serve as classroom assistants for the English-language classes offered at the Bellevue office
* provide one-on-one tutoring (Ideally, tutors and clients would meet at the JFS office in Bellevue during regular business hours of Mon-Fri 9a-5p, but it might be possible to make arrangements to meet at other locations and times.)
* lead a small drop-in English conversation group
No formal certification is required, but volunteers should have a strong knowledge of the English language: spelling, pronunciation, grammar.
