Volunteer Position Overview

Help recognize sustainability leaders and projects in North Carolina, and support USGBC’s efforts to continue market transformation to a sustainable future.

Responsibilities

You’re welcome to serve in many different ways during the event. All volunteers who plan to attend the event beyond an assigned shift, must pre-register online.

Here are the options:

  • Setup Volunteer: Volunteers will help set up the registration table area and the silent auction item display.
  • Auction Bidding Assistant: Bidding Assistants will circulate throughout the auction room and actively encourage guests to bid on items. You can directly impact our ability to meet (and exceed!) our fundraising goal, so come ready and excited to encourage guests to support our mission! You will be provided with an iPad equipped with auction software to assist guests in placing bids or purchasing items. Volunteers must arrive promptly by 3:30 pm for a mandatory training in usage of the auction software before the auction begins at 5:00 pm.
  • Registration Volunteer: As a registration volunteer, you will use a provided laptop to register guests in the online silent auction software and give them their name badge. Before dinner begins at 6:00 pm, you will help direct guests to the ballroom. Volunteers must arrive promptly by 3:30 pm for a mandatory training in usage of the auction software before guests arrive.
  • Auction Close-Out Assistant: Auction sales will close during dinner and guests will collect the items they won as they exit the ballroom. Close-Out Assistants will help guests make final payments to claim their item(s) and then collect the auction item(s) from the display floor. For items not claimed on site, Assistants will clearly label each item with the name, phone number and address of the person it needs to be delivered to.
  • Auction Break-Down Volunteer: Help break down, organize and transfer silent auction items to their designated pickup areas for auction winners and/or designated storage facility.
