SMILES is a school based one-to-one mentoring program that connects caring adults with students to encourage and help them thrive both in and out of the classroom. SMILES mentors are paired with a student in one of our 20+ programs in the Greater Fall River or New Bedford area.
A SMILES facilitator leads the group of one-to-one matches for an hour each week through activities designed to help build healthy, meaningful relationships.
The time committment for a SMILES mentor is one hour per week (the same time/day each week) from late September/early October through June. SMILES does not meet during schools vacations and/or holidays. All interaction takes place at the school, with a trained facilitator present. Mentors have the opportunity and are encouraged to stay with their mentee year to year!
