Join the fight to lower the energy burden for those hit the hardest in our community.
We’ll connect you to energy professionals and expose you to an array of opportunities to expand your network and strengthen your knowledge base while advocating for impactful change and improving equitable access to energy efficient affordable multifamily housing. We are happy to work on this cause with a volunteer of any experience-level from the total beginner to a seasoned retiree.
As a volunteer, you will:
- Educate the community on the benefits of participating in energy efficiency programs
- Gather and analyze data
- Participate in meetings and conferences
- Assist with research projects
- Assist staff members with program-related tasks
- Develop communication and outreach materials
- Assist with coordination of community outreach events
- Opportunities to network with Network for Energy, Water and Health in Affordable Buildings (NEWHAB) and Energy Efficiency For All (EEFA) coalition members across the state and U.S
- Access to training opportunities

Description
Blue Hills Community Services (BHCS), a not-for-profit community development corporation, has been a major catalyst for neighborhood development in Kansas City, Missouri. Founded in 1974, BHCS set out to battle social and economic challenges faced by residents of the Blue Hills and surrounding neighborhoods. Using a block by block strategy to focus neighborhood revitalization, BHCS ensures neighborhood development is comprehensive and sustainable in creating healthy urban communities. Building healthy, thriving communities begins with those who are informed, capable and motivated to inspire positive change. BHCS administers supportive services to improve academic achievement of students, leadership development, policy improvement, neighborhood involvement and resident empowerment.
