The Museum receives numerous tour requests from schools and youth organizations. Docents will receive training and be called upon to conduct 7-10 tours each year. If you enjoy working with elementary school children and teaching them about the past, we would love to have you join us!

About WILMETTE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Location:

Mission Statement
The Wilmette Historical Museum is dedicated to encouraging the appreciation of Wilmette's past. By exploring, preserving, and sharing the history of Wilmette and the surrounding area, the Museum seeks to find and tell our community's stories, and to connect those stories to Chicago, Illinois, and U.S. history.
Description
The Wilmette Historical Museum was established by the Village of Wilmette in 1951. Today, it is jointly operated by the Village of Wilmette and by the Wilmette Historical Society, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to promoting local history. The Museum’s collections, begun in 1950, are now quite extensive.
The Museum is located in the former Gross Point Village Hall. Built in 1896, the Gross Point Village Hall is a lovely two-story, late-Victorian structure. In 1989 the building was designated a Wilmette Local Landmark, and in 1991 it was awarded a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
Our lectures, walking tours, and workshops offer a great way for people of all ages and with various interests to learn more about their community and history. The Museum also offers a variety of school tours as well as scout programs.
