The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. This fall, the Parkinson's Foundation will host its 7th annual Moving Day Chicago, A Walk for Parkinson’s event. Scheduled for Sunday, October 14th, 2018 at the Lincoln Park South Fields, Moving Day Chicago has with a goal of raising $475,000 and attracting an audience of 2000+ people. This celebration of movement will feature a family-friendly walk course with views of the Lincoln Park zoo, the lagoon and Chicago’s magnificent skyline, a children’s area, refreshment tent and Movement Pavilion featuring exercise classes all proven to help manage Parkinson’s symptoms.
The Parkinson's Foundation is currently recruiting volunteers to help with set-up, registration, refreshments, kid’s area, course, team village, clean-up etc. Volunteers will work 3, 4 or 6 hour shifts between the hours of 7:30am and 1:30pm and times will vary depending on availability and area assigned. Parking passes and a light breakfast will be provided along with a t-shirt for each volunteer.
