Backstreet Arts exists to provide a safe, welcoming, creative environment to anyone who may benefit from the healing powers of art and community.
We seek a compassionate, enthusiastic painter to welcome, encourage, and mentor art participants in a community arts program. This role encourages the volunteer to pursue their own art on site with the willingness to teach and share. We are specifically looking for an oil painter or acrylic painter who works on canvas.
The best candidate would have compassion for others from all walks of life, the realization that Art has healing power, and be comfortable explaining your art process to small groups of people.

Study after study proves that Art has a positive effect on the mind, body and soul.
Backstreet Arts will reach out to anyone and everyone who may not be aware of or have access to the proven healing power of art: those who have experienced trauma, illness, or grief; veterans and others suffering from PTSD; at-risk teenagers; disabled adults; homeless and low-income individuals who cannot afford art classes, and anyone who wants to practice art in a comfortable, non-intimidating atmosphere.
