Maintenance Volunteer Needed for non profit in downtown Boston

Role Description:

The Irish International Immigrant Center is looking for a maintenance support/handyman volunteer to assist with various projects in our downtown office. This position offers a wonderful opportunity for someone interested in giving back, and assisting a non-profit that assists immigrants, to keep our space well maintained and looking nice for our clients.

Helpful Skills/Experience:

  • Volunteers should like working with their hands
  • Some experience with low entry maintenance
  • Some experience with hand tools and specialty tools

Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic repairs such as broken appliances/equipment and other minor repairs
  • Install door locks and window blinds
  • Provide maintenance to interior of the office including painting, carpentry and new equipment/furniture installation.
  • Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures
  • Respond to maintenance requests as required


Requirements:

  • Ability to work respectfully in a multicultural environment
  • Commitment to the overall mission of the IIIC
  • Previous experience with basic maintenance tasks
  • Good problem-solver and detailed-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Must be flexible and reliable

Time Commitment: As needed (flexible)

Our mission is to assist immigrants from around the world as they integrate into American society.
