Job Description: The Health and Safety Program Coordinator will be providing social services to residents in 2 or more of the senior housing complexes served by our Housing Social Services program. Along with working with the building’s current Service Coordinator to provide resident social services, the Health and Safety Program Coordinator will be responsible for working on specific projects such as: scheduling and providing health and wellness programs and activities, safety and disaster preparedness education, and socialization activities. All programs and activities will be aimed at promoting a healthy, satisfying, and independent lifestyle.
Duties include: - Provide ongoing health, wellness and safety monitoring of the residents.
- Seek community partners, agencies and volunteers to provide health and wellness education to our residents
- Coordinate socialization activities for residents.
- Conduct research on new and potential resources for residents, as well as conduct a yearly satisfaction survey and needs assessments of residents.
- Attend a weekly staff meeting with other members of the social services department, as well as meet specifically with other AmeriCorps members once per month. The member will recruit and oversee volunteers for some scheduled events.
- Minimum Age: 18 (17 years of age with parental permission)
- Must be a US Citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien
- Cannot be (or required to be) listed on the National Sex Offender Registry, or have been convicted of murder
- Must have a high school diploma or GED- or be on schedule to complete your education for either of them during your services term (note that some positions require a college degree).

- Monthly stipend of $1,202.86 before deductions and withholdings.

- $5,815 education award (10.5-month positions) that can be used for future schooling or to pay off existing qualified student loan debt (upon successful completion of the service term).
- Forbearance (temporarily postponing paying off a loan) of qualified student loans during the service term.
- Payment of interest on qualified student loans that accrued during the service term. Serving in a full-time AmeriCorps position qualifies as "employment" towards the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
