SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The Dental Clinic Office Assistant will support the Executive Director and other staff, primarily via tasks involving paperwork, data entry and handling telephone calls/messages.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create a friendly, comfortable setting in which the client can feel supported and cared for while waiting to be seen by the clinic’s dental staff.
Assemble charts (paper or EHR) for new and follow up patients.
Input data information in the computer as needed.
Obtain changes of demographic information as needed.
Answer telephone calls.
Make sure messages for Compassion Community Clinic staff are handed, called or emailed to the volunteer or ED.
As directed by Executive Director (ED) or Clinic Administrator (CA), may:
make phone calls to prospective patients to fill a vacancy in the patient schedule;
call vendors, dental tech, etc. for repairs;
make calls to volunteers; and
perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills in person and over the telephone.
Has proficiency in computer programs/typing skills.
Understands how to ask for help when situations or problems present which are beyond their ability or knowledge.
Exhibits a willingness to learn new skills.
Note: The Clinic Office Assistant will under NO circumstances offer medical/dental advice to patients. All medical/dental inquiries will be directed to the Executive Director.
This position requires a commitment of 1 year, 10-15 hours per month.
