Create an international family when you welcome a Youth For Understanding (YFU) exchange student into your home for 10-12 weeks this fall! YFU students are arriving this August from 70+ countries and speak English, have their own spending money and insurance and are carefully selected based on academics and recommendations. YFU welcomes families of all backgrounds, whether you have young children in the home, are a same-sex couple, or are an empty nester. However your family is made, our students look forward to meeting you. YFU students attend the local high school during the day and share their traditions, holidays and customs with you, their YFU host family.
YFU is here to support your family every step of the way with group orientations, trained and dedicated local volunteers and 24-hour professional support staff. With 65 years of experience, students and families around the world trust YFU because of our reputation for quality, high safety standards, and strong support network. A non-profit international educational organization with partners in more than 60 different countries, Youth For Understanding is one of the world’s oldest, largest and most respected intercultural exchange program. More than 250,000 students and their host families have benefited from the support and expertise of YFU. The YFU global network is united by the belief that full cultural immersion is the most effective means to gain the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly multicultural, interconnected and competitive global society. YFU is different from other intercultural exchange organizations because of our thorough preparation and program support that’s backed by a global team of volunteers, Our volunteers run orientations, conduct interviews, support students and serve as a YFU ambassador within their own communities. When you join YFU, you become a part of a 1500 volunteers nationwide who help students grow and discover their inner selves.
