I'm delighted to correspond with you regarding the potential opportunity to join our school board. You will find this opportunity to be both informative and rewarding. The time obligation is quite small - meetings are held once per month for 1 hour or less, for 10 months of the year.
We are a K-8 public charter school located in east Detroit. We service a 99% African American, free and reduced lunch population of students. Although I've been an administrator for over 13 years, this is my second full year at this school. We have truly overcome some great adversity this year - as our emphasis has been on continuous growth and improvement of our culture. We believe that nothing great can be accomplished in chaos. Therefore, we provided our team with the development necessary to look at our students from a different lens. Our expectations for achievement remain high, and we have shown some growth from last year to this year. Our staff has remained solid and consistent, and we are working to continue this trend.
