Position Summary:

In order to ensure fairness in its regulatory practices, HRPA established an Appeal Committee in accordance with the Registered Human Resources Professionals Act, 2013 and section 21 of the By-laws. The purpose of HRPA’s internal appeals process is to provide for the opportunity of a reexamination of decisions made by HRPA’s regulatory committees or by the Registrar.

The internal appeals process is an important aspect of HRPA’s regulatory framework.

Skills & Qualifications:

The qualifications we are looking for include but are not limited to:

  • Regulatory experience
  • Adjudicative skills
  • Excellent written skills
  • Law degree is an asset, but not a requirement

Time Commitment:

The Appeal Committee meets in panels of 3 to review, assess and discuss an appeal via a 1-hour teleconference call during business hours. The length of deliberations may include a greater time commitment depending on the complexity of the appeal that has been filed. A panel may meet anywhere between 5-8 times per year, depending on the volume of requests for an appeal received in a given year.

Additionally, the Appeal Committee will meet for one in-person business meeting with a duration of 3 hours. Travel to HRPA’s Toronto office may be required.
