Museum Guide For Travelers
Hostelling International Santa Monica
Overview: Meet guests at the hostel and lead them on public transportation to nearby museums.
Local volunteers offer a unique insider’s perspective to our hostel guests. You will lead a group of guests to a nearby museum (transportation is by walking, bus, or expo line). Local museum trips can include: Getty Center, Getty Villa, LACMA, MOCA, The Broad, Hammer Museum, Natural History Museum, California Science Center, etc.
By leading museum tours, volunteers create the opportunity for hostellers to learn more about Los Angeles culture and expand their knowledge in art, history and science. All tours will start at the Hostel located on 2nd street in Santa Monica.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a group of hostellers to local museums 1-2 times per month.
Speak about specific points of interest (talking points will be provided).
Research and develop (add to) historical and culturally accurate script.
Qualifications: Interest or knowledge in art, history, science and local museums is preferred.

We bring travelers together in the largest hostel network in the USA, but that’s just the start: from local tours and experiences, to experiential learning programs, HI USA strives to bring moments of cultural understanding to our guests and community members. HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member-based organization that reinvests our surpluses back into our hostels and programs so they can have an even greater impact, year after year.
