Become a Volunteer Crisis Advocate!
ORGANIZATION: RISE
Please visit the new page to apply.
RISE is a dual advocacy agency for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in San Luis Obispo County, providing free & confidential services to survivors and their loved ones. We rely on volunteers to help us make these services accessible to our community. As a RISE Volunteer, you would receive a 65-hour California state certification for sexual assault & domestic violence peer counseling, granting you the opportunity to work our 24-hour crisis hotline and assisting survivors in their immediate time of need.
We are currently recruiting for our newest cohort of volunteers to begin our crisis counseling certification training in Spring 2019. This course will teach you about the dynamics of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, and provide you with crisis intervention techniques. The training is required as a prerequisite to volunteering, thus no previous experience is necessary to apply. We ask a year-long commitment as a volunteer, and can offer internship opportunities as well. Applications are currently being accepted. Apply now, space is limited!
