The Volunteer Program Development VISTA will break the cycle of poverty and help to improve educational outcomes for children and economic outcomes for parents through the development of a comprehensive volunteer program. Major functions will include the recruitment of 20 new volunteers and the creation of volunteer orientation and training, policies and procedures, volunteer job descriptions and recognition events. The VISTA will research and attend community events and also develop marketing tools such as fliers, brochures and letter templates to increase awareness of the agency and their services. Applicants should have strong verbal and written communication skills, experience with recruitment and proficiency with computers.

VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America) devote one year of full-time service at nonprofit organizations or local government agencies. They build the capacity of these organizations to develop, manage, and sustain programs to make poverty history.

Requirements of Service:

• Must be at least 18 years old, no upper age limit
• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Pass a criminal history review
• Must be able to serve one year (365 days) full time
