BrainUp is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness to brain cancer - a disease that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. From helping to understand how to navigate treatment options, to finding new treatments, BrainUp works tirelessly with patients, families, physicians and research professionals to one day find a cure. Our vision is to give hope, not fear, to those affected by a brain cancer diagnosis.

Job Discription

Set-Up

Assist BrainUp staff with festival set-up, including setting up tables & chairs; laying out food & beverages and paperwork; setting up the KidsZone (coloring pages, face painting, etc.), and assisting with route marking along the course (will be done in a car).

Registration

Assist and oversee pre-registered walker/runner registration (handing out pre-assigned bibs, etc.).

Assist with day-of-event registration, which includes assigning bibs and timing chips, collecting registration payments & paperwork.

T-Shirts

Arrange tshirts (2 different colors: white - participant; yellow - volunteer) by sizes and color. Exchange participant’s t-shirt tag on their bib for a t-shirt. ONLY participants with a BrainUp numbered bib may receive t-shirts. Requests for additional shirts must be made AFTER the awards ceremony (at approximately 10:00AM) with a BrainUp staff member ONLY.

Food & Beverage

Display snacks, water, coffee and hand out to participants - only those with a BrainUp numbered bib or volunteer/staff shirt are allowed to have food & beverages. Keep the area clean, disposing of empty boxes and water bottles in the appropriate compost/recycle bins.

KidsZone

Help set up the KidsZone, which includes laying out coloring books & crayons/markers and sponges/water/paper towels, and assisting with face painting.

Course Marshals

You will be stationed at the Water Stop/Walker Turn Around point, the Cannon Drive crossing #1, and the Cannon Drive Crossing # 2 along the route to direct runners/walkers; cheering on participants along the route (bring cowbell if you have them!), serving as BrainUp’s "eyes & ears" on the route. You may assist with the water stop (setting up a table, pouring water into cups, cleaning up after the last walker passes). Water stops will be located across from the Grant Memorial (just before the Cannon Drive Crossing #1.


Training will take place the morning of the run/walk.
