This program is currently not running, but we are accepting drivers for our waiting list when our transportation program starts up again.

The goal of the American Cancer Society is to provide information and support to newly diagnosed cancer patients to support better decision making and improve the quality of life of cancer patients. Through the American Cancer Society, we have Patient programs and services. I am currently in need of some community outreach to help The first one is Road to Recovery. This program is ran by volunteer drivers that take patietns to and from their life saving appointments. With the high volume of requests for rides we are need of more drivers.The second program is our Lodging partners program. This program helps patients with a place to stay. This program also needs constant hotel, retirement facility, colleges etc to join the partner list.

Both of these programs can help to make or break a cancer patients journey through treatment.

Position: Program/Services Community Outreach Volunteer

Time Frame: Flexible

Responsible to: Staff Partner

Summary: The Program/Services Community Outreach Volunteer works closely with the ACS Staff partner to establish new volunteer relationships to help grow the Road to Recovery program and Lodging Program. The Outreach volunteer promotes the programs within the community to community leaders, local clinics, lodging partners, retirement facilities, networking groups, etc.

Responsibilities:

- Identify and recruit new volunteers for the Road to Recovery program and new partners for the Lodging program. Work closely with Staff partner to onboard and train new volunteers.

- Follow up with new volunteers/partners through the onboarding process to build relationship.

Qualifications: Commitment to the American Cancer Society mission. Ability to work in a close volunteer/staff partnership. Excellent leadership skills. Knowledge of the local community. Ability to communicate clearly in person, via telephone and in writing.

Support Provided: Onboarding training/Training on all programs, information and materials. Public speaking training on all programs

Staff & Volunteer Partners: Local ACS Staff
