Institute for Immigrant Concerns is a non-profit organization. We provide support to recent immigrants to the New York City areas, mostly in the form of ESL Classes.
Institute for Immigrant Concerns needs a PC Technology consultant to come in on a short term basis for the following purposes:
- Review current system, which consists of two Windows desktop PCs and two printers. The system is a legacy system and we are currently having performance issues.
- Recommend and implement short term upgrades to improve performance, reliability and security of the current system.
- Develop a proposal and cost estimate for a replacement of the current system.
We require that the candidate has both training and experience in supporting a small Windows PC based office system.
The hours for this job are flexible and can be scheduled based upon candidate and IIC staff schedules. The work will take place within a Mon-Thursday 10 am - 3:30 pm office schedule.
This position is an unpaid volunteer position. We will provide recommendations to a cooperative volunteer who does a good job in helping us to improve our technology.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Institute for Immigrant Concerns is providing adult immigrants and refugees of all nationalities with English language skills, as well employment preparation and placement, so that they can gain social and economic independence. In addition we provide pro bono psychological services to refugees and those who most need it. The Institute is a citywide program, attracting students who reside in every borough of New York City.
Description
Since its inception in 1997, the Institute has provided services to more than 8,000 immigrants, refugees, and asylees from 110 countries. Annually, we serve over 500 immigrants in New York, 25% of whom are refugees and asylees. The Institute offers English classes on three instructional levels, as well as conversation, pronunciation, and computer classes. We are currently co-located with a local worker's education non-profit.
