Who We Are
Positive Resource Center, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, assists people living with HIV/AIDS or mental health disabilities by providing comprehensive benefits including counseling and employment services. PRC merged with AIDS Emergency Fund, an emergency financial assistance provider for low-income residents disabled by HIV/AIDS. PRC also merged with Baker Places, Inc. which provides a comprehensive array of residential treatment services to people with mental health, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS-related issues.
The mission of PRC is to help people affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, or mental health issues better realize opportunities by providing integrated legal, social, and health services that address the broad range of social risk factors that impact wellness and limit potential.
Position Description
We are seeking to recruit a fall Development & Events Intern. This individual will assist the Development Team in the operations and management of several aspects of the organization. We heavily rely on our interns and volunteers. As a result, we appreciate their help greatly and work to provide them a valuable experience. Interns will be able to walk away from this internship with knowledge and skills that are highly transferable to other nonprofits, including, but not limited to, special event planning, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, social media, and data management.
Responsibilities include:
Special Events - Assist with the coordination of several fundraising and campaign events including our October Gala, Holiday Dinner, and World AIDS Day. One of the main responsibilities regarding special events for our Intern will be working with our community partners in the invitation process and advertisement for our Holiday Dinner.
Volunteers - Recruit new volunteers, organize volunteer orientations, review and update all existing volunteer information, and help coordinate volunteer communications, as needed.
Social Media - Increase followings on activity on Facebook and Twitter, write content and relevant stories/posts, and engage community via online posts and direct messaging.
Administrative Support - Aid the Development Team in various administrative-related work, including, but not limited to, data entry, donor acknowledgement, and targeted mailings.
Bare Chest Calendar - Perform tasks associated with this critical fundraising effort and provide support in-person to fundraising events, as needed.
Desired Qualifications
Must be able to type at least 25 WPM
Intermediate computer skills in MS Office
Proficiency in outlook, internet, and social media websites
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of Vertical Response is helpful but not necessary
Valid driver’s license preferred

PRC (formerly Positive Resource Center) has been transforming the Bay Area for decades, helping those affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, or mental health issues realize their best selves by providing the support and services they need to reclaim their lives.
Services include emergency financial assistance for short-term security; legal representation for access to basic income and healthcare benefits; and residential treatment, supportive housing, and employment training for longer-term social rehabilitation.
Having recently merged with the AIDS Emergency Fund and Baker Places, Inc., PRC’s newly interconnected services help over 5,000 clients per year on their path toward long-term stability and success.
