Who We Are
Positive Resource Center, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, assists people living with HIV/AIDS, substance abuse or mental health disabilities by providing comprehensive benefits including counseling and employment services. PRC merged with AIDS Emergency Fund, an emergency financial assistance provider for low-income residents disabled by HIV/AIDS. PRC also merged with Baker Places, Inc. which provides a comprehensive array of residential treatment services to people with mental health, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS-related issues.
The mission of PRC is to help people affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, or mental health issues better realize opportunities by providing integrated legal, social, and health services that address the broad range of social risk factors that impact wellness and limit potential.
Position Description
We assist our clients by helping them pay for basic human needs, including housing, utilities, medical, and other health related expenses. We believe that when a person’s basic needs are met, they are able to focus more on their health, which means they will have improved long-term health outcomes and a better quality of life overall.
Our Client Services Volunteers play an essential role in our organization as they work alongside staff serving our clients on a daily basis. Our Volunteers perform a variety of tasks, including answering client services questions on the phone, enrolling new clients and renewing returning clients in person, and making referrals to other agencies for services not offered by AIDS Emergency Fund. Our Client Service Volunteers are full-fledged members of our Client Services Team. We appreciate them greatly as they help support an integral part of our organization.
