Candidate must commit to starting on September 1, 2017 and serve for a total of 900 hours as a full-time (40 hours a week) member for six months to February 28, 2018. There may be part-time (20 hours a week) positions available to serve for a full year from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018. Pay is a living allowance of $6,381 over the course of the term of service.

Empower our adult clients to gain skills necessary to succeed at their goals in the workplace, in school, and in life for themselves and their families. As an Employment Coach AmeriCorps member, you will provide hands-on support to our Career Center clients to help them meet their professional goals and connect unemployed or underemployed individuals with jobs. You will actively assist with participant recruitment and client engagement, identify and resolve individual job barriers by following an individualized work plan, connect job seekers with services that increase job opportunities, collect and maintain accurate records from clients, and participate with the rest of the team in days of service, team meetings, and professional development. You will create programming that builds job search skills, promotes rapid employment, and promotes career success through ongoing guidance, coaching, and self-esteem building. Thanks to your service, our adult clients will be able to gain stability in their lives starting with family sustaining employment.

All candidates must enjoy working with adults, have a positive attitude, and serve as a role model for Our House clients. High school diploma or GED is required. A background in adult education and/or relevant college courses preferred.

After a completed term, you are eligible to receive a $2,907.50 Education Award that can be used toward future educational expenses or to pay off federal student loans. Full-time members are also eligible for healthcare coverage.

Email your resume and cover letter to Maureen Martin, Director of Children's Programs and AmeriCorps Program Director (maureen@ourhouseshelter.org.). Check out our full position descriptions at www.ourhouseshelter.org/jobs. There will be two more steps to the application process once we receive your resume.
