Storytime Helper

We are looking for friendly, outgoing, energetic adults (ages 18 or older) who enjoy interacting with children and their caregivers to assist with our general Thursday Storytimes. Storytimes feature books, rhymes, fingerplays, songs, puppet shows and follow-up activities. General Storytimes are every Thursday from 10:30-11:30 and are geared toward Toddlers.

Status: Unpaid volunteer position.

Days and times needed:
Thursdays 9:45 - 12:45 ( We would like to have someone who can help us through May 2018 and possibly in the summer)

Storytime Volunteer Responsibilities:

- Help set-up for storytime and follow-up activities

- Greet storytime attendees and direct them where to go

- Take a count of all attendees each week

- Participate in storytime activities under the direction of the Librarian

- Help clean-up after storytime

Qualifications:

- Must enjoy working with children and be friendly and energetic

- All volunteers must complete a Leon Valley Public Library Volunteer Application and a City of Leon Valley background check (2 parts). (This can be emailed to you)

Preferred Qualifications:

-Willingness to assist with Puppet Shows as needed (occasionally) NOT Required but Helpful

- Knowledge of sensory activities and STEM/STEAM activities is helpful - NOT Required


NOTE: ***The City of Leon Valley requires all volunteers to fill out Background Check forms before being able to volunteer.
