OhioHealth At Home Hospice Veteran-to-Veteran Program Support Volunteers:
- Provide support and companionship to fellow Veterans at end-of-life
- Sit bedside and offer conversation/listening ear
- Deliver veteran appreciation packets to veteran patients
- Perform Veteran pinning ceremonies for veteran patients
Qualifications:
- Completion of OhioHealth At Home hospice volunteer training, plus Veteran to Veteran program training
- Commitment to the philosophy and goals of hospice
- Emotional maturity, sensitivity, listening skills
- Reference and background check (including fingerprinting)
- Completion of TB blood test and yearly flu vaccination
- Skills in listening, empathy and acceptance of people in their current life stage
- Understanding of grief and loss issues
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to commit to at least 4-8 hours of volunteer work per month

Hospice Care
Wherever the patient calls home, OhioHealth At Home in partnership with Compassus is there to provide hospice support. Whether the patient lives in their own home, a nursing home or assisted-living facility, we’ll provide physician-led, comprehensive hospice care.
