The Hyde Park ESOL & Job Readiness Program

Jewish Vocational Services ESOL Program offers adults of all ages a chance to learn or improve their English language ability and we assist them in finding employment. Our students are diverse, and have diverse academic skills and needs. They range in age from 20 to 70, these students juggle work, seeking work and taking care of family to complete their coursework. Volunteers are essential to the high level of support we provide support for our students.

Position:

As an ESOL department aide, you will provide resume and cover letter writing. You will also assist in the development of our class enrollment waiting list, answering phones, and keeping the wait list up to date. You will greet and answer questions of potential ESOL students and if possible, provide translation when needed. Other administrative duties as assigned.

Desired qualities:

· Patience

· Understanding of how to write a simple resume and cover letter

· Basic Excel skills

· Haitian Creole or French language skills desired but not required

Time commitment: 3-5 hours a week, 3 months minimum
