This is an opportunity to make a difference in a child's life by spending one afternoon a week . Lots of fun and interaction as well as helping a child come to know a loving God. Team leaders/members are needed for the school year whiz kids program! You can choose to spend 3 hours one afternoon a week to mentor a child or tutor a child in reading for an hour, or both! You will assess your child's progress and record it weekly. Training is provided and a background check is required. Opportunity to communicate with your child's teacher as well as other Whiz kids tutors and leaders provides optimized learning for your child. Children are referred to our program by Mad River Schools having been identified as in need of more intensive help. You CAN make that difference!

Description
Community Church is a community of Jesus people looking for ways to serve our surrounding community and East Dayton friends. We provide multiple opportunities to serve and be served. Community provides after-school tutoring and mentoring at the request of Mad River Schools via a program called Whiz Kids. While we tutor reading for one hour, we start our program 2 1/2 hours prior to tutoring time. Our kids are transported from their respective schools by volunteer qualified drivers. Their time with us starts with a healthy snack and warm up with interactive games. The rest of the time focus's on their lives and how God love is at work around them by songs/praise session, imagination (craft), chapel time, and time for expressing their sads, mads and glads. Each child has a prayer angel praying for them and sends weekly notes/cards of encouragement based on sads, mads and glads.1/2 hour prior to tutoring they are fed a full meal. Families, tutors, mentors and kids all working together for our children.
