Are you looking for a new and meaningful volunteer opportunity?
We are searching for volunteers for our Representative Payee Program.
Working with the Department of Social Services and the Department of Aging and Disabilities, the Representative Payee Program provides financial management banking services to physically and/or mentally impaired residents who are not fully capable of managing their limited income retirement/social security checks.
The Anne Arundel County Representative Payee Program has been selected by Social Security Administration to serve as a pilot to expand nationwide. There is no cost to clients for this service. Clients must be able to participate in directing the use of their funds and are actively engaged in spending decisions.
The ideal candidate would have administrative experience, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to self-manage when necessary. You should expect to work 1-2 days a week, Monday through Thursday. Days and times are flexible based on the Volunteer's availability.

About Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services
80 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401, US
The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Sevices will assist County residents to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency; provide services to strengthen individuals and families; and join our community partners in the protection of vulnerable children and adults.
Our government agency assists people in need by administering a wide range of public assistance programs. Primarily, we help low-income people as well as families and children in crises.
We help low-income county residents access food stamps, medical assistance and temporary cash assistance. And, we help them pay their heating bills when they lack the income to pay it themselves. We also collect and distribute child support payments.
In addition, we investigate allegations of child/adult abuse and neglect. Too often, the silent victims of family violence and volatile family dynamics are children. When necessary, we remove children from their families - either temporarily or for the long term - when the children are not being properly cared for by their families.
The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services is the local office of the Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR).
