Want to try a life-changing experience? Volunteer to teach your native language with the Global Language Network. No previous experience necessary and teaching fellows take our classes for free! Teach your language while learning languages including English and languages from around the world.
Native Speakers and Bilingual Speakers of All Global Languages are Welcome. Teach in our Spring Semester!
The fall semester will run for 12 weeks from February to May with 12 week or 6 week classes. Choose your own schedule. The teaching commitment is for 2 hours per week on a schedule that works for you. Please allow extra time during the week to plan lessons or activities and to respond to students. The time necessary is about 4 hours per week total or more depending on your availability.
Attend our training and then teach during a schedule that works for you in the evening or on the weekend with the option to renew in future semesters as well.
GLN teaching fellows are granted the privilege of interacting with enthusiastic and interesting students who are interested in their cultures while giving back to the community and simultaneously gaining experience in the educational field - no prior teaching experience required, just an enthusiasm for teaching! If you are interested in getting involved and teaching beginning this semester, we invite you to fill out our teaching fellowship application and RSVP for one of our upcoming training sessions. (The link available down below.)
Skills that you can develop and share by teaching with us include:
- Improved Confidence

Please note that GLN's office is in Washington, DC, and GLN will offer in-person classes in the area as soon as it is safe to do so, but you can apply for GLN's Teaching Fellowship to teach online from anywhere.
This experience is great for your resume and is a great way to give back while having fun. Adults of all ages from all cultures and with native-speaking skills in any language are welcome.

About The Global Language Network
Location:

Mission Statement
The Global Language Network (GLN) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization founded by Andrew Brown in 2005 whose mission is to provide opportunities to learn any language at a minimal cost. We recruit and train native speakers who volunteer their time to teach their language and share their culture with the DC community. Our affordable classes in 62 different languages build learners' communicative competence and enable them to communicate with others in meaningful and culturally appropriate ways.
Description
GLN makes language learning easy, enjoyable and effective: we create a comfortable environment where students have direct experiences with the target language and culture. We engage them and build their competence and confidence to communicate with others in meaningful and appropriate ways.
GLN teaches language through culture and culture through language because by studying languages people gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures that use that language, and in fact, cannot truly master the language until having also mastered the cultural contexts in which the language occurs.
