Our hospital is implementing a volunteer patient reader program.
these volunteers would visit with patients and read from their phone or tablet and connect with patients about an interest they may have. perhaps the patient has an interst in gardening, the volunteer can reference on their tablet or phone about gardening and read to the patient and show them pictures of gardening tips.
When patients are in the hospital, they can be lonely, anxious, nervous and just want some company.
Having a volunteer come in and talk or read to a patient is just another way to make a difference in their lives while they are in our hospital.
