Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania - serves eleven counties throughout NEPA and has offices in Forty Fort - is in great need of volunteers. And by becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister mentor, a person can help transform the life of a child.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Its vision is that all children achieve success in life. Big Brothers Big Sisters of NEPA sees positive outcomes in the program in achieving:
* Higher aspirations
* Greater confidence
* Better relationships
* Avoidance of risky behaviors
* Educational success
The greatest need at Big Brothers Big Sisters program are new volunteers. There are currently hundreds of children on the Big Brothers Big Sisters waiting list, and what might surprise people is that it only takes an hour or two per week of time. And - in regards to volunteer work - Big Brothers Big Sisters offers a very flexible schedule, as the volunteer decides what day and time of the week is best for them to spend some time with their Little Brother or Little Sister. It is a fun and very rewarding experience for both the child and the volunteer.
