Building Community

Our event will be held on Monday, June 3 rd at the Hamlet Golf & Country Club in Commack. It is an all-day event, beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 8:00 pm, after our dinner program.

We are pleased to provide the following event details, as they pertain to our volunteers.

  • Weather permitting, our outing is outdoors, with the exception of buffet breakfast and dinner program in the Ballroom. Guests and volunteers will also have full use of the outdoor, covered patio for breakfast and cocktail hour.
  • We are seeking adults (18 and over) who would like to donate their time to a great cause and help make our outing a success by:
    • welcoming guests.
    • selling raffles.
    • helping with registration and other logistics.
    • serve as a "hole-in-one witness."
    • set up Raffle Prize tables in Ballroom.
    • set-up Ballroom with collateral and décor (200+ guests expected).
    • and pitch-in wherever needed!

Since its inception in 1985, the purpose, goals and objectives of Mercy Haven have been derived from the belief that providing stable housing is only the first step on the journey to end chronic homelessness. All proceeds from this event benefit our housing and programs designed for recovery of populations in-crisis on Long Island. Our work could not continue and flourish without the success of our special events!

We have a wonderful donor-base and many experienced volunteers that help make our outing extra-special. Good inter-personnel skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to help are the only requirements. Training & supervision is provided - everyone works with a partner/buddy, and meals are on us! It is a wonderful day!

Mission Statement

Mercy Haven's mission is to acknowledge the dignity and potential of people who are homeless, living with mental illness, or living in poverty by providing housing, advocacy, education, and life skills development.

Description

Established in 1985, Mercy Haven, Inc., is a non-sectarian not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation. We envision communities where diversity and inclusion are valued, and individuals reach their full potential. We are committed to be a place where experience and creative solutions come together to open the door of possibility for those most in need. For over 39 years, Mercy Haven has grown to be a multifaceted community resource. We have brought services to both Nassau and Suffolk Counties and are committed members of the communities we serve. From a humble beginning in Bay Shore as a provider of housing for persons living with mental illness, our housing programs now include the elderly, veterans, persons with disabilities, homeless families and children and low-income families. Mercy Haven owns and rents a total of 65 sites, representing 119 units of housing for over 400 participants across Long Island, New York.

Some of our support programs include free legal advocacy, education and employment skills training, peer support groups, supported employment, youth & family services, community outreach, staff on-call 24/7, and a sophisticated property management department.

Mercy Haven, Inc. is committed to responsible and transparent stewardship of the funds we receive from our donors, both public and private. For a copy of our most recent annual report, please contact our Development Office at 631-277-8300.
