TEACH FOR MINDS MATTER DETROIT
Minds Matter Detroit is looking for an English, Math, and Writing teacher to support our Academic Program. This teacher will be responsible for a 5-week class covering the subject of Writing & Language, Algebra & Problem-Solving. All teaching material is provided by Minds Matter. It is taught out of the Kaplan provided books. You will be given a teacher's edition to help facilitate the classes.
We are also looking for individuals to lead small group tutoring sessions to focus on English and Math topics.

HOW IT WORKS
As a teacher for Minds Matter Detroit, you will support our Academics Program. For our sophomore and junior students, the emphasis will be on SAT prep and Khan Academy. With our senior students, you will help develop their writing and critical thinking skills with an eye toward college readiness
THE COMMITMENT
We ask for as few as six (6) Saturday mornings of your time. Teaching/Tutoring sessions are 1 hour and 30 minutes Saturday mornings. Sessions are held between 10:30 am - 2:00 pm from September 15, 2019 - May 25, 2020. Volunteers sign up for days they are available to teach, tutor, or lead small group instruction. There will also be some required prep time with the VP of Academic.
We are currently seeking teachers to fill the following positions.
Writing and Language
Creative Writing
Math - Algebra
Math - Advanced Topics

Minds Matter transforms the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success.
Description
Minds Matter brings bright and motivated high school students together with dedicated mentors to help them achieve academic excellence, expand educational horizons and ultimately gain acceptance to college. This is accomplished in a 3-year program that includes 32 Saturday sessions (half academic and half mentoring) per year and 2 Summer program.
There are three program components that differentiate Minds Matter from other organizations: academic instruction, individualized mentoring support, and summer enrichment programs.
