Volunteer Duties for Docent:
- Greet visitors
- Must be friendly, enjoy speaking with people and like to answer questions
- Give tours inside the museum; explaining saturation diving; and providing information about the artifacts inside.
- Give tours outside the museum; give tours of SEALAB I; and provide information about the other outside artifacts

Mission Statement
a) To provide for professional, scientific and technical communication among the members; b) To establish a ;library from which the membership may obtain information; c) To establish and maintain a museum of diving history in which to preserve store and display artifacts and documents of historical record and value. This museum shall be open to the public on a fee basis; d) To develop and promote programs and projects for the improvement of scientific and technical knowledge within the membership and the general public.
Description
[The Institute of Diving is a non-profit, educational organization formed in 1977. The initial idea for establishing the institute and its museum (Man in the Sea Museum) was conceived in 1976 by a group of divers from the U.S. Navy's SEALAB Program and representatives from commercial, academic, scientific, medical, and sport diving fields. Explore the history of diving and man’s first underwater habitat-SEALAB I developed at Panama City’s Naval base in 1964. Four Navy Divers lived and worked in SEALAB for 11 days in 193 ft of water off the coast of Bermuda.
