Community Involvement Programs (CIP) provides a variety of housing options to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in Hennepin County and Pine County in Minnesota. Our goal is to provide the support and opportunity for adults with disabilities to feel genuinely at home. CIP’s housing program includes permanent housing options for people coming out of long-term homelessness and we offer Adult Foster Care housing options. CIP has about 40 homes that it would like have inspected and that it would set up on an ongoing inspection schedule. The inspections would include roofs and other standard aspects. The work does not require a licensed inspector, but CIP is looking for someone with experience.. CIP is looking for a volunteer willing to do two inspections a month and would ideally like to find someone to provide ongoing volunteer housing inspection services. We estimate the time commitment to be a 4-6 hours a month.
Description: As a Volunteer Housing Inspector an individual will be tasked with management and preparedness of homes on our west metro properties. The volunteer will work with staff to finalize CIP’s existing checklist for safety and security and then will make scheduled visits to the properties and document results. Duties for inspections include:
- Make appointments with residents to visit their homes
- Visit home, conduct inspection and complete the inspection form
- Determine if home passes the inspection
- Make recommendations for needed repairs
- Submit results of the home inspection to CIP’s Housing Manager (initially by phone and then electronically
- (If applicable) Complete follow up visit once repairs are complete
- Maintain confidentiality of information

Description
We're here to help people cope with the issues surrounding social injustice, low income, aging, and homelessness -- and, in doing so, to help them live their greatest lives.
Since 1971, we've been meeting people where they are and bringing them what they need to live as independently, creatively, and fully as possible. We offer a variety of services and supports, which have all been developed as a result of listening to and understanding the needs of the people we serve, their loved ones and their communities.
