We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join us in bringing Walk With Compassion back to Virginia Beach. Walk With Compassion launched in 2016 as a way to equip and engage the local evangelical community to take a stand and do something about the critical needs that children in extreme poverty face every day. It is an annual community fundraising walk series that allows participants to reach out to family, friends, co-workers, church members, and neighbors to engage them in the important work of helping the most vulnerable children around the world.

Compassion International provides the product, the production, the marketing and planning. Our local Walk Committees are the hands and feet in the community, to open doors and get the evangelical community excited and engaged. We are currently looking for people with expertise in:

• Business Recruitment - reaching out to local businesses and engaging them as corporate underwriting sponsors or corporate fundraising teams
• Church and Team Recruitment - building relationships with local churches, schools and organizations, and encouraging them to form fundraising teams
• Marketing and Media - securing media sponsors for the event, sharing the event on calendars and through social media, and representing Walk through media interviews
• Celebration Planning - securing food donations, music and families activities for the post-walk celebration

Time commitment is as little or as much as you are able to contribute, and can include in-person or virtual support leading up to and after the Walk. The 2018 event is scheduled for April 12th, and we are looking for support in communities across Virginia Beach. The ideal volunteers have a passion for giving back and are able to mobilize and engage their community to join them. We are looking for door-openers and people willing to make calls.
