ORGANIZATION: JOURNEYS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY

Journeys Within Our Community (JWOC), a U.S. and Cambodian registered education NGO is looking for a Graphic Design Volunteer (between 1 - 2 months, 2-3 days per week) who shares our passion for education and community development to support our end of year annual fundraising drive, Race4Education.

Race4Education is JWOC’s largest fundraising campaign, with participants all over the world competing in events to raise funds and awareness of JWOC and our programs. In 2016, thanks to effective communications participants were able to fundraise over $28,000 for JWOC’s different programs. With your help, JWOC can raise even more for local communities in Siem Reap in 2017!

The individual should have:

  • Graphic Design experience (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • A bachelors degree or working on completing one
  • Video making and editing experience (although not required)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to work with a culturally diverse team
  • Flexibility and humor. This is Cambodia, nothing happens as planned. So we need someone who can roll with the punches!

Responsibilities:

The volunteer will work with the Communications & Fundraising Manager (FCM) to plan & develop JWOC’s annual end of year campaign. This will involve working independently, with the FCM and with JWOC’s Scholarship students to support the creation of graphic, visual and online materials that will promote and support the campaign. This will include:

  • Produce creative graphics for use in the production of print and online materials;
  • Ensure consistency of branding and messaging across all visuals;
  • Help build the capacity of JWOC’s 4 person Communications Scholarship Student team

What you can expect from JWOC:

  • Help and advice with accommodation and settling into Siem Reap
  • Support and ideas for pre-trip fundraising
  • Reference letter at the end of experience
  • Flexible working days (2-3 days a week)
  • Working for a 10 year old respected & local NGO
  • Office desk with wifi
  • The satisfaction of contributing to an organization that positively affects the lives of its many beneficiaries
  • A pleasant, fun, and multi-cultural working atmosphere with a team that is really looking forward to working with you!

Terms and conditions:

JWOC provides a local experience for International volunteers. The volunteer is responsible for all costs associated with traveling to Siem Reap, in addition to health insurance. Two reference checks will be required. The volunteer will sign an agreement to adhere to JWOC’s child protection, dress code, green and volunteer policies. Although we do not provide accommodation we are happy to offer advice on reasonably priced accommodation and costs of living in Siem Reap, details of which can be found on our website at http://www.journeyswithinourcommunity.org/support/volunteer/.
