ORGANIZATION: BUILD

The Curriculum and Instruction Intern will join the Program team which supports the BUILD program in seven public and public charter schools across Washington, DC. The position will support one Program Manager with administrative duties including but not limited to in-school support, financial reporting, attendance and data entry, managing supply inventory, and event operations. There are also opportunities to work with our student business teams, BUILD classroom teachers, and adult mentors at each school site and during events. This internship provides the opportunity to gain experience with school-based program implementation in low-income communities, and exposure to best practices of mentorship and college access programming. The ideal candidate should be interested in pursuing a career in youth services, teaching, social work or other community-based programming.

Description

BUILD is supporting six LAUSD schools with the delivery of our business and entrepreneurship curriculum. Throughout the school year students will learn design thinking, form business teams, and develop an advanced prototype of a product to sell! BUILD recruiting volunteer business team mentors to support students as they form their business teams. Business team mentors are professional mentors who support and motivate a youth business team, provide recommendations for a company's vision, growth, and goals for the year, and build strong relationships with students. The volunteer commitment entails attending attend 10 class sessions throughout the second semester of the school year, 2 in person, 8 virtually.
