Tangram is a United Way non-profit that serves individuals with disabilities in Central Indiana. We are looking for an individual who could provide literacy tutoring to an adult male with a disability. This person has basic reading skills and would like to improve those skills to become more independent.
The schedule can become flexible after a couple of months of working with this individual, but to begin, Tuesday nights are when tutoring would occur. Tangram would provide necessary training on volunteering with individuals with disabilities, but interested volunteers should have some experience with tutoring.
Volunteers should be able to commit to weekly or twice monthly tutoring sessions for about an hour each time. The individual lives on the east side of Indianapolis and tutoring will either occur at the person's home or a nearby community location (i.e. library branch, community center, etc.)
This opportunity requires a drug screen, background check, TB test, and training. Must be 18 years of age or older.
