  • 1 person is interested

The Project HEAL- University of Maryland (UMD) Chapter is seeking 1-2 students at UMD to serve as new leaders of the Chapter for the 2017-2018 school year. Managing a Project HEAL Chapter is an exciting and rewarding opportunity, especially for those with a passion for helping people affected by eating disorders, body image issues, poor self-esteem, and overall mental health issues. The UMD Chapter has been an active organization on campus for several years but without new leadership, it is at risk of being closed.

Being a Project HEAL Chapter Leader involves a variety of tasks including: ensuring the maintenance of Project HEAL’s pri mary mission and creating a continued vision of growth for the organization locally; work with executive board to manage Chapter volunteers; ensure all social media accounts are up to date; educate the community about eating disorders via awareness evens and presentations; facilitate the Chapter’s monthly meetings; lead role in planning fundraisers; delegate and follow up on assigned tasks; work to find sponsorships for Chapter events; maintains active correspondence with National team.

Project HEAL Chapters may have anywhere from 1 leader up to 3 co-leaders, as well as at least 3-4 executive board members, all of whom work together to ensure the success of the Chapter. All Chapter executive board members are required to provide a 1-year commitment to their role. This role requires approximately 10-15 hours per week of your time- the stronger your executive board, the less of a time commitment for Chapter Leaders, as they can delegate more tasks to other team members. The specific days and times that Chapter Leaders serve in their role throughout the week can vary depending on their personal/academic/professional schedules.
