At Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park resident volunteers are volunteers who aid park staff in the operation, maintenance and care of the park. In return, resident volunteers get a campsite at no charge and the satisfaction of performing an important and much-needed job.

Position Details:

  • Location: Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park
  • Primary responsibility will be helping in the ranger station and working with a point of sales system. Other tasks include cleaning restrooms, gardening & grounds keeping, resource management, and administrative tasks.
  • Free campsite that includes 30 & 50amp electric, water, and sewer hook ups
  • Site accommodates up to 40' RV
  • Must adhere to the volunteer uniform standards
  • 20 hours/week per site minimum
  • Schedule: rotating including weekends and holidays, evenings may be required for special events
  • Positions available for summer 2018

About the Park:

The beautiful ornamental gardens at the park were first planted in 1923 by Alfred B. and Louise Maclay after they purchased the property for their winter home. A masterpiece of floral architecture, the gardens feature a picturesque brick walkway, a secret garden, a reflection pool, a walled garden and hundreds of camellias and azaleas.
