The Pillars is the first residential hospice home in the Twin Cities East Metro area. Supported by the HealthEast Foundation and a generous community, The Pillars opened in April 2000. We take our name and purpose from the pillars of faith, hope and love. At The Pillars , end of life needs are met with compassionate, respectful care.
Sometimes people facing the end of life require care beyond what a family can offer. In such times, The Pillars offers a place to call home.
Each of the eight private suites has its own bath and patio, opening onto the adjoining woods and pond, ideal for relaxation and experiencing the peacefulness of nature.
The Pillars has a 24 hour on-site nursing staff. Our highly skilled RNs, LPNs and certified home health aides are prepared to manage the most complex medical needs.
Other members of the hospice team (including a physician, chaplain social worker and bereavement coordinator) make visits as needed. We have over 50 dedicated hospice-trained volunteers to complement the services we offer. Volunteers are an integral part of the Hospice Care team at The Pillars and offer a supportive presence in patient care.
As Volunteers ...
You are a valued member of our professional team of caregivers. We are honored to partner with you as we compassionately care for the terminally ill. Since patients, families and situations vary from day-to-day, a volunteer's duties change based on the needs of the house. Typical duties include: offering hospitality to visitors, assisting with meal prep and kitchen clean up, supporting clinical staff with patient cares (fetching clean linen, helping to make a bed, etc.) socializing with patients, and more!
We'll work with your schedule.
