VITAS is looking for caring individuals to share their voice and time as Telephone Assurance Program (TAP) Volunteers to help terminally ill patients and their families. TAP is a program in which volunteers make phone calls to patients in their home to do a check in OR see if they need refills for supplies. These calls can be done from your home or in our office. Bereavement support to survivors are also an option under this program.
All volunteers must attend a comprehensive orientation to gain the knowledge you will need to work with terminally ill patients. These are currently held online via Zoom and/or via self-study.
In order to comply with the State of California’s COVID requirements, all volunteers must have one of the two items below.
- Be fully vaccinated with booster (proof required) with no testing requirements
- Apply for a VITAS vaccine exemption (reviewed on a case-by-case basis) with proof of weekly negative tests required
