MEMBER SERVICES VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION

Title of Role

Member Services Volunteer

Goal of Role

Grow and strengthen the YMCA family by welcoming new members, building relationships with existing members, and creating an atmosphere of familiarity and support for all.

Tasks and Activities

· Welcome members as they enter the facility

· Respond to members’ questions

· Promote programs in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility

· Engage members in conversation

· Help keep clean towels available for members

· Occasional filing tasks

18+

Length of commitment

6 months

Estimated hours/month

2 - 10 hours/week

Scheduling

☐ At volunteer’s discretion

☒ At specified times: Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. or

Monday-Friday 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Dress Code

Y t-shirt and black or khaki pants or skirt (Will be provided by branch)

Qualifications and skills desired

· Model warm customer service skills

· Exhibit patience in communicating with individuals of all ages and backgrounds

· Be dedicated to member safety and the cause and mission of the YMCA

Training and other requirements

· Volunteer application

· Face-to-face interview

· Criminal Background Check

· Signed Code of Conduct

· Completion of Volunteer Orientation
