Volunteer Opportunity

The Board of Directors meets once per month. Board members are expected to attend no less than 7 meetings annually and participate in FICS events and on committees as required. Board directors are required to commit to a minimum 2 year term.

Skills and role requirements:

  • Specific skills, knowledge, education and professional or academic credentials in areas that benefit FICS’ goals and needs as they evolve:
    • Fundraising, sponsorship and donations
    • Community connections, marketing, outreach and advocacy
    • Understanding of nonprofit governance and policy development
    • Financial management (Treasurer), budgets, month and year end
    • Leadership and board management (Chair)
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Understanding of how volunteerism shapes and strengthens community
    • Commitment to attend FICS events and participate in activities
    • Computer skills adequate for role
    • Knowledge of Flamborough community

Duties of treasurer:

  • Month end financial input and reports for board meetings
  • Annual and updated budgets for board and grant applications
  • Year-end financial data for auditors
  • Submission of gst/hst rebate and charitable CRA tax return

FICS assists other non-profit agencies to support their volunteer needs by managing Volunteer Flamborough.
